It is performed as a day case under general anaesthetic, with patients discharged the same day. The MiniAug is specifically designed for patients seeking a natural one-to-two cup increase in breast size rather than a dramatic change.

The ideal MiniAug candidate is someone who wants a very natural-looking breast enhancement. Specific criteria include: wanting a subtle, natural look (not a dramatic size change); desiring an implant volume of less than 300 cc; having minimal existing breast tissue (typically an A to B cup); having very little skin laxity or breast sagging, with the nipple sitting centrally on the breast; having a lean body type with a BMI below 26; and being in good general health. Mr. Nassab will assess your suitability in detail during your consultation, including trialling small implant sizers.

The MiniAug differs from a standard breast augmentation in several important ways. It uses smaller implant volumes (up to 300 cc), requires a shorter incision of only 3–4 cm using a specialist implant funnel, and is specifically designed to achieve a natural rather than augmented appearance. The procedure time is also typically shorter (around 60 minutes), and patients return to light activity more quickly — often within 48 hours. The MiniAug is not suitable for patients who want a larger size increase or who have significant breast sagging, for whom a standard augmentation or augmentation mastopexy may be more appropriate.

The MiniAug uses low-volume breast implants of up to 300 cc. The specific implant size chosen will depend on your existing breast tissue, your chest dimensions, and the look you are trying to achieve. During your consultation, Mr. Nassab will trial small implant sizers so you can visualise the expected outcome before deciding. The implant plane (under the muscle or dual plane) is also selected individually to maximise a natural appearance.

The MiniAug is a rapid-recovery procedure. Most patients can return to gentle activity such as walks and eating out within 48 hours of surgery. You will typically be able to return to a desk-based job within 5–10 days. More strenuous activities and exercise should be avoided for around 6 weeks while the implants settle and the incision heals. Mr. Nassab and the team will provide full written aftercare instructions and schedule follow-up appointments at 1 week and 6 weeks post-operatively as standard.

The MiniAug incision is placed in the inframammary fold (the natural crease beneath the breast) and is kept to approximately 3–4 cm in length. This location means the scar is hidden beneath the breast and is not visible when standing. Using the specialist implant funnel reduces the tension on the incision and may also reduce the risk of hypertrophic (thickened) scarring compared with larger incisions. Scars continue to mature and fade over 12–18 months, and most patients find them entirely inconspicuous.

The risks of the MiniAug are similar to those of a standard breast augmentation, and include bleeding, infection, changes in nipple or breast sensation, asymmetry, implant-related complications such as capsular contracture, implant malposition, or the need for revision surgery. Using a smaller implant volume can help reduce post-operative pain and discomfort. The use of an implant funnel reduces implant handling and may lower the risk of infection. Most patients are advised to avoid flying for approximately 2 weeks following the MiniAug to allow the early stages of healing to complete and to reduce the risk of complications such as deep vein thrombosis (DVT). Mr. Nassab will give you specific guidance based on the length of your flight and your individual recovery at your post-operative review. Patients travelling internationally for surgery should plan to remain in the UK for at least 10–14 days before flying home.
