At Reza Nassab Plastic Surgery in Cheshire & Manchester umbilical lifts or UmboLifts are a surgical procedure to help reduce the skin laxity in the upper belly button. This is common issues in patients that have previous had belly button piercings and subsequently had children or weight changes. The skin above the belly button is often saggy and loose and the umbilical lift can help tighten this.
In Manchester & Cheshire umbilical lifts are a procedure that is performed under a local anaesthetic as a day case procedure. You will have a small injection to numb the area and then the skin laxity is removed. There will usually be dissolvable stitches used following the procedure. The results can be seen immediately but the scar can take time to settle. The umbilical lift or belly button lift is performed under a local anaesthetic. The procedure is performed in our clinics in Manchester and Cheshire. There will be a scar above the belly button. You will usually be able to go back to work the next day.
The scar from the umbilical lift is a semi circular scar above the belly button. This is usually a fine line but in some cases, scars can become stretched or raised. The scar can initially look a little bumpy since there is more skin on the upper part compared to the bottom so we have to try and tuck this into the lower scar. This will gradually even out over time.
I would recommend waiting for 6 weeks before exercising. This gives enough time for the scar to be strong and reduce the risk of it becoming stretched.
You will have dressings put on after the procedure. These are tapes and a semi waterproof covering. These are then changed about 7-10 days following surgery. You may not need any further dressings after this.
We would recommend using silicone scar gel or tape on the scars after 2 weeks. This will help reduce the redness and prevent the scars from becoming raised or hypertrophic.
The cost of the procedure is £950 under local anaesthetic in our clinics in Manchester and Cheshire.
